‘Nixon Library and Tax Dollars’
Arch J. Marshall’s letter “Nixon Library and Tax Dollars” (May 17) is so biased he forgot to get his facts straight. One must also wonder if Marshall read your article on the Nixon Library (May 2), as he claims.
Marshall states the Hoover Library is at Stanford University. The Hoover Library is actually located in West Branch, Iowa. He states the Nixon Library should be in New York, because New York doesn’t have a presidential library. However, the F.D.R. Presidential Library is located in Hyde Park, New York.
Marshall is worried his tax dollars will go towards maintaining the Nixon Library. Yet your May 2 article clearly states there is a possibility the Nixon Library will be privately run.
I suggest Marshall’s next letter be in regards to former President Nixon dropping his Secret Service protection (saving $3 million tax dollars per year), while former Presidents Ford and Carter have refused to do the same.
