Intellectual Life in L.A.
I recall comments heard in New York 25 years ago, soon after I had graduated from college. I was about to follow my husband to Los Angeles, the so-called abyss of trivia and gauche glitter. “Poor dear, too bad it isn’t at least San Francisco.” I am grateful to see that the highbrows are still quizzing visitors about the desolate intellectual life in Los Angeles. Our freeways are already overburdened.
