FIRST OFF
An announcement of a long-awaited David Hockney retrospective is expected at a press conference Tuesday at the County Museum of Art. An exhibition of 150 paintings, 60 drawings, 30 photographs, several suites of prints and illustrated books, plus examples of his stage design will open at the museum’s new Anderson Building on Feb. 4 and run through April 24, 1988. The LACMA-organized show will travel to New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Tate Gallery in London. Scheduled speakers at the 11 a.m. conference are Earl A. Powell, director of the County Museum of Art; Desmond O’Mahony, acting British consul-general and the British-born artist who now lives in Los Angeles.
