During a bomb threat Saturday night that cleared the Munich concert hall in which he was appearing, thieves stole conductor Leonard Bernstein’s $16,000 watch from his dressing room. Bernstein, in Munich to conduct the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, also lost his wallet, containing $470, to the unknown thief or thieves that police guess moved in when city officials evacuated the hall in the German Museum after receiving the bogus bomb threat. After 45 minutes, the audience was let back in, the orchestra tuned, and Bernstein gave the downbeat for Schubert’s Ninth Symphony. Bernstein is scheduled to receive the $83,000 German Music Prize today in Munich.
