A 2-year-old Fountain Valley boy who fell into a swimming pool was in stable condition after he was rescued by his grandmother, father and a passing police officer, Fountain Valley police said. The boy had been in the water for at least five minutes in a backyard pool in the 10000 block of Stilbite Avenue, said Sgt. Keith Levin, who was the first officer to respond to the residence of the boy’s grandmother, Leigh Whitaker, a registered nurse. Assisted by the boy’s father, Kenneth Harer, 27, of Santa Ana, and Levin, the grandmother administered mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. “He was in cardiac arrest and his body was blue,” Levin said, but responded “within 15 to 20 seconds.” Paramedics took him to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital where he was reported in stable condition. The boy, whose name was not released, had wandered off from a family gathering inside the home, police said.
