One man died and four people were injured, one critically, when an airplane crashed during an emergency landing at Meadowlark Airport in Huntington Beach, police said. Lt. Jack Reinholtz said the pilot of the small Cessna radioed about 9:45 p.m. that he had lost power and would have to make an emergency landing. During the landing approach, the plane hit some trees on the northeast corner of the landing strip and crashed, Reinholtz said. The plane reportedly was en route to Orange County from Northern California. Identities of the injured were not immediately known.
