Atlanta Signs Former Westlake Pitcher
John Reilley, a right-handed pitcher at USC who also played at Valley and Oxnard colleges, signed as a free agent Tuesday with the Atlanta Braves.
Reilley, a Westlake High graduate, will report Thursday to the team’s rookie-league affiliate in the Gulf Coast League in Bradenton, Fla. Reilley was 6-6 in his senior year at USC this spring.
Mike Greenwood, a sophomore outfielder at Moorpark College and the 22nd pick of the San Francisco Giants, has signed a contract with the National League team. Greenwood has been assigned to Pocatello, Ida., the team’s affiliate in the Pioneer League for rookies.
Freshman pitcher Jon DeGennaro, who was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies, has decided to return for his sophomore year at Moorpark, according to Moorpark Coach Ron Stillwell.
