Commerce : Budget Study Session Slated

The Commerce City Council has scheduled a study session Monday on its proposed budget for fiscal 1987-88 which includes a 4% cost-of-living raise for city employees. The study session will begin at 5 p.m. in the City Council chambers, and public comment will be accepted, said Jim Duron, assistant city administrator. The City Council could approve the budget later that day.

The proposed budget anticipates spending $18.41 million during the next fiscal year, which starts July 1, compared to $17.86 million the city expects to spend by the end of the current fiscal year.

Estimated income next year is $18.67 million, compared to $18.64 million this year. The proposed budget for next year contains a $4.89-million general fund reserve, while this year’s general fund reserve is $5.13 million. The general fund includes money for basic city services, including police and fire protection.
