Two Russian eye specialists said they found no signs that a retina problem of an imprisoned American Indian was treated improperly and left a Soviet drug for the activist who claims he is innocent of killing two FBI agents. The Russian doctors said at a news conference they consider Leonard Peltier a “political prisoner” and wanted to examine him at the federal penitentiary at Leavenworth, Kan., for “humanitarian and professional reasons.”
