Federated Group, a consumer electronics retailer that last month belatedly reported a $5.2-million loss for the year ended March 1, Monday reported a loss of $895,000 for the first quarter ended May 31. That compared to net income of $662,000 for the same period last year. Sales for the quarter rose 2% to $91.1 million.
Chairman and Chief Executive Wilfred Schwartz said in a statement: “While we did not expect a return to profitability during this quarter, we have successfully adjusted our expenses to the present level of business activity. We . . . expect a gradual return to positive results as the year progresses.”
