LaRouche Testifies Before Grand Jury
BOSTON — Fringe presidential candidate Lyndon H. LaRouche Jr. appeared before a federal grand jury Monday and later said fraud and obstruction charges against his aides and organizations are “political hatchet jobs” to discredit his campaign.
LaRouche told reporters he appeared before the grand jury in Boston voluntarily. He refused to discuss specifics of his testimony “because I prize grand jury secrecy.”
He then assailed the investigation of 13 LaRouche aides and five organizations accused of making over 2,000 unauthorized credit card charges totaling more than $1 million.
The charges stem from LaRouche’s 1984 presidential campaign, when he ran as an independent.
