Laxalt Kin’s Death Ruled Suicide
NAPA, Calif. — The sister-in-law of GOP presidential hopeful Paul Laxalt committed suicide by taking a lethal dose of the sedative phenobarbital, Napa County Coroner Jim York ruled today.
The body of Katherine Ann Laxalt, 52, was found June 2 along the banks of the Napa River. York said that questions were raised about the death because of the relatively moderate amount of phenobarbital discovered in Laxalt’s system and that all other possible causes had to be ruled out. Divorced 10 years ago from Peter Laxalt, she left letters and notes in her car indicating despondency.
