Paraskevin-Young, Bliss Are Winners in U.S. Cycling
TREXLERTOWN, Pa. — Three-time World Sprint Champion Connie Paraskevin-Young won the senior women’s sprint title Saturday night in the John E. du Pont National Cycling Championships.
Karen Bliss successfully defended her national points race title by beating a field of 24 women in the 20-kilometer event. Bliss won with 40 points to runner-up Nancy Neely’s 26.
Dave Lettieri led his Team ICN to the senior men’s team pursuit championship. Teammates were individual pursuit champion Carl Sundquist, Tim Bengston and Matt Rayner.
Mindee Mayfield won the senior women’s pursuit final; David Lindsey and Russell Meade combined to take the senior men’s tandem sprints, and Dan Vogt won the senior men’s points race with 49 points to runner-up Mike McCarthy’s 27.
