Commercials plugging the contras are ready to roll on network TV, leaders of the National Conservative Foundation announced Monday. At a screening attended by contra leader Adolfo Calero, the suburban Washington-based group presented videotapes of the two-minute commercials, which show brief interviews with Nicaraguan citizens as well as contras fighting Sandinistas. The conclusion: “Contras stand alone against oppression.” During the commercials, viewers are asked to call a toll-free telephone number to have a letter in support of the contras sent to the White House.
