Fire Damage Put at $800,000: Investigators estimated the loss at $800,000 from the fire that gutted a picture frame manufacturing plant Tuesday night. About 40 firefighters from four Orange County cities battled the flames at the Freeman Custom Framing Co. at 114 W. Walnut Ave., fire officials said. One firefighter suffered second-degree burns to both feet. He was released after treatment at St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton. The intense heat shattered a window in a fire truck. The flames gutted the building, valued at $500,000, and burned $300,000 worth of wood frames and other contents, officials said. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
