Local News in Brief : Elderly Man’s Remains Found Near Westlake
The skeletal remains of an elderly man were discovered by a horseman in a remote park south of Westlake Village on Thursday, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
Arthur Emr, 43, of Malibu was riding his horse about a quarter-mile inside Rocky Oaks Park at about 11:30 a.m. when he “smelled a pungent odor” and followed it to a skeleton, he told deputies. The body was found lying next to a shallow grave, Deputy Merlin Poppleton said.
The skeleton had gray hair and was partly clothed, Poppleton said, but deputies do not know the cause of death. A coroner’s report is pending.
