Spectramed Inc., a Newport Beach medical products maker, reported a second-quarter loss of $1.6 million, contrasted with a profit of $2 million in the year-ago period.
Sales for the quarter ended June 30 were $18.6 million, up 1.6% from the $18.3 million last year.
Spectramed, which recently became a publicly held company, was the medical products division of Gould Inc. until October, 1986, when its management led a leveraged buyout of the operation and created a new company. Its initial stock offering was made last month.
