Flames Threaten 60 Yucaipa Homes
Southland firefighters mopped up three brush fires Thursday that charred about 425 acres, while a fourth blaze had burned 80 acres and briefly threatened 60 homes in Yucaipa.
Those flames, which still burned unchecked, reached the backyards of homes on a creek wash along Oak Glen Road, a San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesman said.
In the Sepulveda Pass, Los Angeles firefighters quickly contained a 75-acre fire of undetermined origin in the Encino Hills area.
Firefighters contained two fires in the San Bernardino Mountains. One fire in the White Mountain area, near Big Bear Lake, blackened 50 acres and another burned about 300 acres in a nearby forest range.
