Fight for Anti-War Literature
Robert Scheer’s review of “The Casualty” was hardly a review at all. Instead, Scheer played erroneously with the chilling statistics of World War II. Yes, there were six million Jews annihilated by the Nazis. And yes, there were millions of Russians killed. But Stalin killed more Russians than Hitler. And what about the millions of murdered Poles, Czechs, Serbs and Gypsies?
A book should be reviewed on its own merits and not on the predilections of the reviewer. As they used to say, if Scheer wanted to make a speech, why didn’t he rent a hall?
