Camp Pendleton
A 19-year-old Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton was killed when his vehicle struck a disabled car parked on the shoulder of Interstate 5 near Basilone Road, the California Highway Patrol reported Saturday.
A CHP spokesman said a car driven by George F. Arsulich III drifted onto the shoulder Friday night, struck the parked car, overturned and skidded upside down across four lanes of traffic before coming to a stop in the fast lane.
He was the sole occupant of the car and no other drivers were involved, authorities said.
The occupant of the parked car, Patricia Lewis of Oakland, was taken to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where she was listed in good condition Saturday.
