Some 3,300 people passed through tight security Tuesday night to witness the Bolshoi Ballet’s opening-night performance in San Francisco’s War Memorial Opera House. Not everyone was comforted: “As much as I understand the need for it, I am offended,” said Hayward resident Todd Kaufmann. “I think it’s an invasion to be inspected and probed when one’s coming for a night of entertainment and enjoyment.” One woman, who declined to be identified, sniffed: “As long as the wires in my brassiere don’t set the metal detector off, I don’t care.”
