A Green Alternative

I read with interest a letter in response to Kathleen Hendrix’s article on the Christic Institute (Letters in View, Aug. 2) wherein the writer said she did not fully research the Christic Institute’s connection with “the radical Greens”.

We of the Green Alternative and Green Party Organizing Committee in Los Angeles applaud the work of the Christic Institute. However, we know of no connection between the Christic Institute and the Greens.

Many Americans do not know what “Green” means. Greens are trying to promote ecology, social responsibility, grassroots democracy, non-violence, social justice, and feminism. I think it is a sad commentary on our society that this is considered “radical.”
