Horner Misses 3-2 Win Over Yomiuri Giants
TOKYO — Katsumi Hirosawa singled home two runs in the eighth inning to give the Yakult Swallows a 3-2 win over the first-place Yomiuri Giants in a Japanese Central League game Sunday.
Bob Horner, formerly with the Atlanta Braves, did not play for the Swallows. It was reported that a slight pain had recurred in his back, which he hurt July 11 while swinging at a pitch. Horner will be able to play on Tuesday against the Hanshin Tigers.
David Hostetler, who played in the minor leagues, hit his 14th homer of the season to lead the Nankai Hawks to a 6-1 win over the Hankyu Braves in a Pacific League game.
Former Dodger Leron Lee drove in four runs with three hits, including a two-run home run, as the Lotte Orions beat the Kintetsu Buffaloes 9-4. It was Lee’s fifth home run.
