A scholar and writer whose safety deposit boxes yielded hundreds of Civil War documents, many of which were believed to have been stolen from the National Archives, was charged with possessing a letter by American author Henry James belonging to the Library of Congress. Charles Merrill Mount was arrested at his Capitol Hill rooming house after the 1904 letter, which is worth more than $5,000, was identified, the FBI said. Mount, 59, was first arrested last week in Boston while allegedly trying to sell rare, stolen letters signed by Abraham Lincoln.
