Costa Mesa : Enrollment Increases at Orange Coast College
Orange Coast College enrollment is up by 3.4% this fall compared with last, officials announced.
As of Tuesday, a total of 22,675 students had signed up for fall classes, and registration is continuing for late-starting classes. By the end of registration, the college expects a total enrollment of 25,500, a spokesman said.
The 3.4% enrollment growth by late August came despite the college’s having dropped about 300 course sections in this fall’s schedule.
“We eliminated approximately 10% of our course sections in an effort to cut costs,” said John R. McGill, dean of admissions and records. “The fact that our enrollment has increased indicates that our classes are being very heavily subscribed to this fall.”
Registration for late-starting, 15-week classes continues through Sept. 11 at the college’s Admissions Office. In addition, registration for late-starting nine-week classes will begin on Oct. 12.
