BADEN-BADEN, West Germany — A fiery crash involving four vehicles on an autobahn near Baden-Baden on Saturday killed six people and injured 18, police reported.
They said a northbound Volkswagen minibus carrying nine West German vacationers returning from Spain veered into the wrong lane of the high-speed highway and crashed into another car and a tour bus traveling south. Twelve people on the tour bus were injured.
The driver of the southbound car and five of the nine people in the Volkswagen, which exploded in flames, were killed and the four other people in the minibus were seriously injured, according to police.
They said debris from the crash hurled through the air, hitting another car in the northbound lane and injuring the car’s driver and a passenger.
