A 16-year-old driver was killed when the fuel line of his car ruptured, caught fire and exploded during a demolition derby Saturday night at 81 Speedway in Wichita, Kan., police said.

Police said the car of Garald T. Debbrecht of Wichita was struck by another just seconds before the fire, possibly splitting the fuel line. Debbrecht was backing up to ram another car when his gas tank exploded, police said.
