The Grateful Dead were to join the ranks Wednesday night of the Rolling Stones, Elton John, Yes and Billy Joel as recipients of Madison Square Garden’s Platinum Ticket--given to performers who draw 250,000-plus audiences to the celebrated New York arena. It was to be the second platinum award for the perennial band this week. On Tuesday, the group received its first Platinum album, for “In the Dark.”
