Univision Inc., the nation’s biggest Spanish-language television network, said Jaime Davila was elected chairman and Luis G. Nogales was named president.
Davila, 38, former chief executive of Procter & Gamble de Mexico SA, joined Univision in May, 1986, was named president four months later and oversaw the transition of its major affiliates to new ownership.
The company, in trouble with the Federal Communications Commission for alleged foreign ownership, agreed to sell five major Spanish-language stations in Los Angeles, Fresno, San Antonio, Miami and New York for $301 million to Hallmark Cards Inc. and First Capital Corp.
Nogales, the 44-year-old former chairman and chief executive of United Press International, joined Univision in December, 1986, as head of its news operations. Under his direction, Univision introduced new late-night and weekend news programs and expanded its worldwide network of broadcast journalists.
