Some Support for Leaf-Blower Ban

You reported that no one favored prohibiting leaf blowers at the Sept. 9 San Marino City Council meeting.

After patiently sitting through the more than one hour, one-sided dissertation by various gardener associations, I stated I was against blowers.

I explained that my property is more than one-third of an acre, contains five tall palm trees and that I could still see no reason for the objectionable noise and pollution. I also said that I had requested the city to check excessive noise levels around my home.

Since a spokesman for the gardeners said a ban on blowers in Beverly Hills is ignored, I suggested that San Marino consider noise-lowering devices, sound checks and education for all gardeners.
