Henry Ford Faltering in Hospital

DETROIT — The condition of Henry Ford II, downgraded to “very serious,” remained unchanged today, doctors said. He has not been responding to treatment for pneumonia and efforts to clear his lungs were affecting his circulation, heart and kidneys, they added.
“Today’s events are not encouraging,” said Dr. Bruce W. Steinhauer. “Mr. Ford’s lungs have not recovered.” Ford, 70, has been in the hospital named for his grandfather and founder of the auto empire that bears his name since Sept. 12.
