Officer Killed, 2 Hurt in Spain Bomb Blast
SAN SEBASTIAN, Spain — A car bomb killed a policeman and injured two others in this Basque region city Sunday.
Police said the bomb, hidden in a parked car, exploded in mid-afternoon close to San Sebastian’s luxury Hotel Maria Cristina in the city center as the officers drove past in a patrol car.
Police said they believed the attack was carried out by the Basque separatist organization ETA (Basque Homeland and Freedom).
A nurse at a San Sebastian clinic where one of the injured policemen was taken told reporters that he had multiple injuries but that it was too early to say how serious his condition was.
