Irvine : Walk to Raise Money for AIDS Programs
About 2,000 people are expected to participate in a 10-kilometer AIDS Walk Orange County on Nov. 8 to raise money for research, education and services to patients with AIDS.
The walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. in Mason Regional Park. The walk-a-thon’s advisory committee, which includes Irvine Mayor Larry Agran, State Sen. Cecil Green (D-Cypress), actress Whoopi Goldberg and UCI Chancellor Jack Peltason, hopes to raise $250,000 in the event.
The money, which is earmarked for AIDS education and services, will go to five Orange County organizations--the AIDS Services Foundation, the AIDS Response Program, the American Red Cross, UC Irvine and the AIDS Coalition to Identify Orange County Needs.
