Mickey and Minnie Step Into Art World
Spurred by the booming market for Disney memorabilia and collectibles, Walt Disney Co. has unveiled the first three “fine art prints” in a series depicting its classic cartoon characters.
The print series represents a collaboration between Disney and Art One Images, a fine art printing company based in Monterey Park. Drawn by studio graphic artist Dick Duerrstein, the lithographs of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Donald Duck are rendered in a muted palate and post-modern style. Thomas Zotos, vice president of Art One, said limited edition of 300 prints will be sold through art galleries, with the first portfolio of three characters priced at $1,500.
