A teen-age girl whose disappearance last week sparked a search by authorities returned to her family in Shafter, 110 miles northwest of Los Angeles in Kern County, after a trucker dropped her off at a truck stop near her home. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Kathryn Nielsen said Marciel Routh, 16, apparently left the Castaic restaurant where she was last seen Oct. 11 with a group of truckers, because “she did not want to go home.” Deputy Mitch Clark said it was not known if Routh knew the truckers with whom she left, or where Routh had spent the last week, or if she had been sexually abused. He said deputies are scheduled to meet with the girl’s parents to discuss the case, but added that no charges will be filed against Routh or the trucker.
