NEW YORK — Two members of the militant Jewish Defense League were sentenced today for their roles in a string of terrorist bombings, including a tear-gas attack at Lincoln Center that injured 20 people.
The former national chairman of the group, Victor Vancier, 30, of Fresh Meadows, Queens, was scheduled to be sentenced later. Murray Young, 59, of East Meadow, Long Island, a member of the JDL’s governing board, was sentenced to five years in prison by U.S. District Judge Israel Leo Glasser in Brooklyn. Sharon Katz, 41, of Manhattan was given a three-year suspended sentence, placed on five years probation--including six months house arrest--and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service and pay a $5,000 fine.
