“Lady and the Tramp.” Disney. $29.95. One of Disney’s most endearing animated features, “Lady and the Tramp” plays excellent songs (by Sonny Burke and Peggy Lee) and comic scenes against a story that touches deeply felt emotions. The animation itself is so polished and realistic that some sequences are virtually indistinguishable from live-action footage of dogs. This 1955 film was the first animated feature made in CinemaScope, and the cassette should have been released in “letterbox” format. As nearly a third of the image is cut off, the dogs often have their hindquarters amputated by the edge of the screen.
