Stock Market, Deficit and a Tax Hike
I would like to count our blessings even at the risk of incurring the wrath of those who wish to maximize their self-pity as we embark upon hard times. First, the freeway shootings have ended and Garry Trudeau got back his sense of humor. And the conservatives’ cries of “War Eagles” over Nicaragua and Iran have been replaced by whining about the unfairness caused by the public exposure given to Judge Robert Bork.
Most important of all, we have been blessed by the appearance of the rarest of all rare events--the exception that proves the rule.
The rule: There is no justice.
The exception: The stock market crash came on Reagan’s watch.
