Orange County Prep Football : Villa Park Runs Past Foothill, 21-6
Villa Park High School’s strong running game Friday night was enough to help defeat Foothill, 21-6, in an Century League game at Tustin High School.
With quarterback Rob Davey and running backs John Genova and John Chorbagian leading the way, the Spartans gained 231 yards rushing. Davey had 76 yards in 4 carries, Genova had 55 in 13 and Chorbagian had 80 in 8.
Villa Park (6-2, 3-0) allowed Foothill 130 yards rushing and 80 passing, and made the big plays to stop the Knights’ threats.
Villa Park sacked quarterback Tom Hawkins on a fourth and five from midfield, and on the next play, Chorbagian scored on a 45-yard touchdown run to give the Spartans a 21-6 lead.
Villa Park led 14-0 in the first half on a seven-yard touchdown pass from Davey to Genova in the first quarter and a 38-yard run by Davey in the second quarter.
Foothill (3-5, 0-3) got back in the game with a 12-play, 78-yard drive, which consumed almost nine minutes of the second quarter. Running back John Mountain, who finished the game with 86 yards in 20 carries, gained 48 yards during the drive. Hawkins scored the touchdown on a six-yard run.
