Orange County Prep Football : Troy Stops Sonora, Robb, 17-3, to Keep Pace With Sunny Hills
Troy High School remained in a tie for first place with Sunny Hills in the Freeway League by beating Sonora, 17-3, Friday night at La Habra High School.
The Warriors (5-3, 3-0) recorded 313 yards in total offense, all on the ground and stopped Sonora quarterback Billy Robb. The senior completed only 5 of 16 passes for 45 yards with 2 interceptions.
Tyrone Lewis scored the game’s first touchdown on a nine-yard run early in the first quarter. The Raiders (4-3-1, 1-2-0) retaliated with a 27-yard field goal by Scott Szeredy on the next series, but on Troy’s next possession, Jason Ross kicked a 24-yard field goal.
Troy quarterback Brad Zeppieri finished the scoring with a one-yard sneak in the fourth period.
Troy’s Mark Stitcher led all rushers with 145 yards in 17 carries, while Lewis finished with 107 in 15 carries.
