Frank W. McBee Jr., chairman, CEO and a founder of Tracor Inc., will retire on Jan. 1 and move into a three-year position as executive consultant with the Austin, Tex.-based company.
Upon McBee’s retirement, Mellon C. Baird, president and chief operating officer, will be elected president and CEO.
Tracor will merge with WSI Inc., an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Westmark Systems Inc., an Austin-based holding company formed in 1986 for the purpose of purchasing technology companies. Under the merger agreement, the board of WSI Inc., with Bobby R. Inman as chairman and sole member, will succeed Tracor’s directors.
