Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Man Carrying Knife, Fake Rifle Arrested
Police arrested a man Thursday afternoon who was hiding in bushes alongside the Santa Ana Freeway with a fake automatic rifle and a knife, Santa Ana Police Sgt. Dan Salazar said.
Salazar said employees of the California Department of Transportation noticed the man, identified as David Duncan, hiding in the bushes and notified the California Highway Patrol.
At the same time, Salazar said, a jogger saw Duncan in the bushes and called Santa Ana police, who arrested Duncan without incident with the help of a canine patrol. Salazar said Duncan had a long knife and a fake M-16 automatic rifle.
Duncan was being held for psychiatric evaluation, Salazar said.
