Baturevich Leads Los Amigos, 38-14
Andy Baturevich passed for four touchdowns and ran for another to lead Los Amigos High School to a season-ending 38-14 Garden Grove League victory Friday night over Garden Grove at Garden Grove High.
Baturevich, who completed 8 of 11 passes for 239 yards, got his first touchdown with one minute left in the first quarter on a 24-yard run. The touchdown, and Mike Loftis’ 31-yard field goal six minutes earlier, gave Los Amigos (4-6, 3-4) a 10-0 lead.
Baturevich extended Los Amigos’ lead to 17-0 with five minutes gone in the second quarter on a 76-yard pass to John Morgan. With 43 seconds left in the half, Baturevich threw a 16-yard scoring pass to Jim McGovern to give Los Amigos a 24-0 halftime lead.
Garden Grove (1-9, 0-7) got its first points in 15 quarters with three minutes gone in the third quarter on Bryan McGinley’s two-yard run. The score came five plays after Jason Freer returned the kickoff 61 yards to start the second half.
Two minutes after McGinley’s score, Baturevich threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Morgan to give the Lobos a 31-6 lead. Later in the quarter, Baturevich threw a 29-yard scoring pass to Shane Rumney.
