Chilly weather over much of the nation boosted America’s heating bill by three-quarters of a billion dollars above normal in October, government climate experts reported. The nation’s total residential heating bill was more than $4.5 billion for gas, oil and electricity, $750 million more than would have been expected in normal October weather, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported. That means the typical household spent $63 for heat in the month, $10.43 more than normal, said the report from NOAA’s National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service.
