President Reagan took a break on Sunday night from his preparations for this week’s superpower summit to honor five recipients of the 1987 Kennedy Center awards. The honorees for their lifetime contributions to the performing arts: Bette Davis, Perry Como, violinist Nathan Milstein, choreographer and dancer Alwin Nikolais and Sammy Davis Jr. Previous honorees Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy presented the recipients with their medals--multicolored ribbons with three gold bars.
