The success of the little show with the big title, “Six Women with Brain Death or Expiring Minds Want to Know” at the San Diego Repertory Theatre, has led to a return engagement at the Unicorn Theatre in Kansas City, where the minds first began unraveling to the tune of Mark Houston’s wild and witty songs.
The show got its first showcase production at the old Unicorn in April, 1986, but first opened in an expanded form at the new Unicorn in November of that year. While it was a hit in Kansas City, the show did not fare well in Chicago and just held its own in St. Louis. The Kansas City Star credits the San Diego reviews and the popularity of the run, which has been extended through Dec. 22, with renewing producers’ confidence in the show.
