Hijacking Signal Sent in Error

FRANKFURT, West Germany — What was initially thought to be the hijacking of a Lufthansa jetliner over Turkey today was a false alarm apparently caused when the pilot pushed “the wrong button,” officials said.
Earlier, Lufthansa had reported that the Boeing 727, flight LH1593 bound for Frankfurt, was hijacked with 52 people aboard after leaving Izmir, Turkey. “We believe the pilot may have pushed the wrong button,” triggering the hijack alarm, Transport Ministry spokesman Hans Christian Maasz said.
