Prep Soccer Roundup : Brea’s Say Scores to Break Tie in Girls’ Win Over Sunny Hills
Lisa Say scored the game-winning goal 15 minutes into the second half of Brea-Olinda High School’s 3-2 victory over Sunny Hills Tuesday in a nonleague girls’ soccer game at Sunny Hills.
Brea (1-1-2), with goals from Sandy Tennison and Elise Crowder, led at halftime, 2-1. Sunny Hills’ Kim Harris tied the game, 2-2, five minutes into the first half. Shannon Brown had the Lancers’ other goal.
In other nonleague girls’ games:
Esperanza 0, West Torrance 0--Esperanza outshot West Torrance, third-ranked in Southern Section 4-A, 23-7, but the Aztecs couldn’t score. It was the third consecutive shutout for the Aztecs, ranked No. 10 in 3-A. Each team is 2-0-1.
Corona del Mar 2, Villa Park 0--Tracy Schriber and Kathy Kolstad scored for Corona del Mar, which won at Villa Park.
La Quinta 2, Marina 0--Cheryl Jones and Lara Crowley scored for La Quinta, which had 24 shots at Marina. Cayanne Kramer had 14 for Marina (0-2-1), and Wendy Wilson had 12 for La Quinta (4-0).
Los Alamitos 1, Mater Dei 0--Karen Kolodziej scored on an assist from Dana Mariotti in the first half for Los Alamitos at home. Goalie Kevin Reeks had five saves for Los Alamitos (2-1).
In nonleague boys’ games:
Fountain Valley 2, Palos Verdes 1--Marc Merli scored in the first half and Greg Tan scored in the second half for Fountain Valley (2-1) at home.
Goalie Tim Morenc had 10 saves for Fountain Valley.
Kennedy 0, Millikan 0--The Irish outshot host Millikan, 12-1. Kennedy is 1-1-1.
Orange Lutheran 3, Chadwick 2--Brian Wallace, Del Montell and Scott Runyan scored for Orange Lutheran, which won its season opener at home.
Dave Hopper had two saves and Sean Kennedy three for Orange Lutheran.
Tustin 1, Bell Gardens 1--The Tillers (2-1-1) led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Kevin Villar, who scored on a header with 27 minutes gone. Bell Gardens tied the score when Jose Suarez scored with 10 minutes left.
