Night Blaze Guts Pizza Restaurant
A fire gutted a pizza parlor near Universal City, causing an estimated $125,000 in damage, the Los Angeles City Fire Department said Tuesday.
The cause of the blaze at Universal Pizza, 4384 North Lankershim Blvd., was still under investigation, said Greg Acevedo, a department spokesman. The fire broke out about 11:30 p.m. Monday, after the pizza parlor had closed, and was put out about 20 minutes later by 25 firefighters, he said.
The fire did an estimated $50,000 in damage to the building and $75,000 to its contents, he said. There were no injuries, Acevedo said. The pizza parlor is in a mini-mall, but the flames did not spread to neighboring businesses.
