G. Gordon Liddy, a former Nixon White House staff member who spent four years and seven months in prison for his role in the Watergate affair, has been admitted to a Maryland hospital with a broken left arm, a broken rib, a ruptured kidney and a torn ligament in his left knee. Liddy, who said he expects to be released today, suffered the injuries Christmas Eve when he confronted two people in a truck parked on his property, in a riverfront Washington neighborhood known to police as lovers’ lane. Liddy, 57, said that when he told the pickup’s occupants to leave, an argument ensued. He said the truck’s driver wheeled around and hit him with his pickup before speeding away.
